Employment

  • At CLC, an employee is considered Full Time if they work 35-40 hours/ week. Many times, these schedules consist of 7 - 8 hour shifts Monday - Friday or 10 hours shifts with 1 day off per week. While we do our best to be flexible with your preferences, we ask that you return the favor and offer flexibility with us as well.

  • Part Time teachers are anyone who works less than 35 hours per week. Many times, teachers in this category are college students who are wanting to work when their school schedule allows.

    At the beginning of each semester, we ask what availability you have and how many hours of work you think you can manage along with your school schedule. As needed, we re-evaluate and adjust.

  • Each Intern/ Volunteer is welcome to reach out to discuss what they would like to gain from their experience at CLC. We discuss and evaluate the volunteer expectations and how they align with the needs of the school on a case-by-case basis.

Employee Benefits

Earned PTO

Teachers working Full Time earn Paid Time Off starting their first day of employment. Individuals, must wait 90 days prior to using their Earned PTO.

As teachers work at CLC, the rate that they earn PTO increases.

Retirement Fund

CLC recently added this benefit for employees. Any employee can contribute a portion of their paycheck to a Simple IRA. After a year of employment at CLC, CLC will do a match, up to 3%.

Training

CLC pays for all state mandated trainings including First Aid/ CPR, Module Trainings (Child Abuse & Neglect, Mandatory Reporting, Medication Administration, Allergic Reactions to Food and Food Handling, Emergency Preparedness and more! We also pay for the FBI Background check required for all employees.

Sick Leave

Due to the pandemic, CLC has been providing Full Time employees with a week’s worth of sick leave which can be used for personal sickness or family. If this is unused at the end of the year, it can be paid out as a bonus.

Medical Membership

After 90 days of employment, teachers are eligible to enroll into a local medical membership at the employer’s cost. Employees only incur charges for lab work, x-rays, prescriptions, etc.

Paid Holidays/ Snow Days

Full Time teachers get paid for holidays or school closings. They will get paid for their scheduled shift, up to 8 hours.

Continuing Education

CLC values the education of our employees. Any employee who has worked at CLC for one year is eligible to apply for a Child Development Associates (CDA). If you do not receive a scholarship, CLC will pay for the expense of you taking the class to further your education.

Supplemental Insurance

In October, CLC has open enrollment for Aflac. Employees have the option of enrolling into plans such as Short Term Disability, Accident Advantage, Hospital, Dental, Vision, etc. These are at the employee’s expense and are deducted from each paycheck.

Employee Discount

CLC offers up to a 50% tuition discount for employees when the budget allows. We do everything we can to make this benefit possible to our employees.

Staff Lounge/ Paid Breaks

Kansas is an at will employment state and teachers are not required to receive breaks. We understand that being in a classroom for the duration of the day can be taxing, so we do our best to offer 15 - 30 minute breaks as staffing allows. Teachers are welcome to leave on their breaks or relax in our staff lounge which we have stocked with snacks and beverages. We also have a massage chair (yes, you read that right)!
